Where to eat!

Yum! Portland has some great food! Here are a few of our favorite places:

Old Wive's Tales
Great Vegetarian options! Excellent salad bar and yummy Hungarian mushroom soup. Don't forget to check out the fabulous quilts too!
Bay Leaf
Our favorite  restaurant ever! The sesame tofu is to die for... with the mushroom crisps coming in a close second!
Rimsky-Korsakoffee House
They'll let you in on the secrets of the bathroom and the mystery furniture, but only after you've experienced them. Amazing deserts!
McMenamins
A group of brewhouses/restaurants housed in historic sites. Our favorites are Kennedy School and Ringlers.
Saint Cupcake
We love you saint cupcake! These are the tastiest little delights ever!
Widmer Brewhaus
When you are in the microbrew capital of the world, you must sample some of the local fare. They have great food too!
Oba!
Swank restaurant with an amazing happy hour! The pomegranate martinis and margaritas are delectable!

Where to go!
Here are some fun places we frequent in Portland! Don't forget, if you don't go out in the rain, you're not a true Portlander :)

Portland Saturday Market
Largest continuous open air craft market in the US! Kicking off the season with it's first open weekend the weekend of March 1st. Jonathan and I once ran a booth here! So many wonderful local artists!
Mimosa Studios
Isn't the website cool?! (shameless plug for Sarah's web skills). Seriously, this is a fun pottery painting studio where you can hang out and make somethin'!
Powell’s Books
If only there were time for so many books! It just isn't a trip to Portland without visiting Powell's! This is the reason they call it the city of books!
Music Millennium
If you still buy cds :)
Grand Central
Bowling, food, amazingly remodeled space! And so close to Holocene!
Japanese Garden and Chinese Garden
Absolutely love 'em!
Ground Kontrol
Who doesn't need a classic arcade fix once in a while?!
Oaks Park
Okay, okay, it's no cedar point - but it offers great roller skating and lots of charm!
Zoo
The petting zoo might even be open now!!!
Portland Art Museum
Of course we love this!
Museum of Contemporary Craft
So much great work!
Portland Aerial Tram
Ride the tram, it's cool!
Pioneer Square
We spent countless hours hanging out here in high school, reading the names on the bricks! And don't forget to snap a pic with the umbrella man!
Rose Garden Event
Check out something playing at the Rose Garden - for all of you basketball fans: Trail Blazers vs. Phoenix Suns – 7pm Sunday March 2nd at the Rose Garden.

Where to sleep!
We know you prefer your own bed, but when that's not possible...

Ace Hotel

Rooms ranging from $95 (with shared bath) to $140+ for private bedroom and bath.
This is one of Portland's hip boutique hotels. Each room is decorating by an individual local artist.
Hotel Lucia
A little more upscale and posh boutique hotel. The standard rooms can be a little cozy, so if you want more space you might want to upgrade. They offer Aveda bath products and room service from Typhoon (located downstairs)—super yummy food!
Holiday Inn at the Convention Center
A convenient way to go. It's centrally located and offers more of a traditional hotel experience.
Shilo Inn
Relatively inexpensive. This smaller traditional hotel, offers a lot of amenities to travelers, like free high speed internet, hair dryers, and complimentary continental breakfast.
